Apple Turnover with Apple Cream Sauce

These little babies were so easy to make, tasted excellent, and only took about 30 minutes to make! It worked out perfectly for an easy meal during the Thanksgivings break. These apple turnovers are not only a crowd pleaser but also a great meal to make with the kiddos!!

Here's how I made them.

INGREDIENTS:

1 can crescent rolls (I used the 8 count tube)

2-3 Granny Smith Apples

Cinnamon Sugar Mix (use an old container mix equal parts sugar and cinnamon, save for later use)

For Cream Sauce:

2 tablespoons Butter
2 tablespoons Non Alcoholic Baileys Creamer (I used the Cream Brûlée flavor)
2 teaspoons Cinnamon
1 tablespoon honey
1 Granny Smith Apple

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, this temp is lower than recommended on the package.

2. Slice apples into 8 even slices. Unroll crescents.

3. Place 1 slice at the wide edge of the crescent roll and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mix.

4. Roll up apples and tuck the edges, you want to make a nice warm home for the apple to bake inside of the crescent roll!

5. Place each roll about 1 inch apart and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mix.

6. Bake for 15-20 minutes until the rolls are nice and brown. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 5-8 minutes, the inside will be very hot!!

How to make the cream sauce:

1. While turnovers are baking heat a skillet to medium heat, put 2 tablespoons of butter in skillet.

2. Cut bite size pieces of skinless apples and place in heated skillet, stir to get all pieces coated in butter.

3. Add cinnamon, creamer, and honey. Stir everything to fully incorporate it. Stir mix often so nothing sticks, watch carefully so your mix doesn't burn!

4. Lower heat to low after the sauce has reached a boil. Once apples are soft remove from heat and let sit while turnovers cook and cool.

5. Plate your yummy turnovers and spoon apple cream sauce over!!
Eat, enjoy, feel proud!

Stay hungry my friends...
